Week 10 Post

This term the Year 2 children have read the fantastic book 'Halibut Jackson'.  This is an excellent Power of Reading book which really grasped the children's imagination and helped to produce some fantastic writing.

In the story Halibut Jackson is a very shy person. He prefers not to be noticed at all. So he makes himself clothing to match his surroundings. His library suit has a striped look to it to match the shelves. But when he is invited to a party at the Palace, he is flummoxed - what does it look like in the palace? At last, having researched hard, and sewn quickly, he is ready: only to discover when he gets there that the party is a garden party. A suit of silver and gold, covered in jewels, is definitely going to get noticed. But everyone admires it tremendously!

The Year 2 children received several emails from Halibut asking them to design new tops for his shop.  Halibut thanked the children for their fabulous designs and he wanted to choose some for a fashion show.  The children wrote some fantastic persuasive descriptions of their own t-shirts.  Then, of course they made their t-shirts.
Today we held the fashion show at Perryfields Infant School on the catwalk in front of the whole school.  What a great way to end a fantastic term!
Have a wonderful Easter everyone and we look forward to seeing you in the summer term.
