Sapphire Class 2025-26
Welcome to our class website page.
We will use this page to share photos of the activities that the children will complete in class and the outside areas. We will also share photos of events and trips here as they happen over the school year.
School Trip to Chatham Green
We had a wonderful school trip to the Wilderness Foundation at Chatham Green. We began the day with den building, before moving on to pond dipping, a nature walk and a plant hunt. Then it was time for lunch in the sun, before taking part in a bug hunt and finishing off by learning about bees and taking part in the Bee Game. We were very tired at the end of it!
Science
We have really been enjoying our science recently. Last term we were learning about our senses and we did lots of experiments, including using paper-cup telephones. This term we have been learning all about plants and how they grow. We have learned about the parts of flowering plants and trees, have planted seeds with different conditions to find out what they need to grow and have learned to identify evergreen and deciduous leaves. We also really enjoyed making leaf rubbings and seeing the veins appear, as if by magic!
Once upon a time...
Our topic this term is Once upon a time and we will be focusing on a number of different traditional tales. For each tale, we will be sequencing the main events from the story, acting out sections of the story, describing a character, creating a story plan and then retelling the story in our own words. Have a look at the photos and see if you can work out which story we were acting!
Outdoor Learning Mondays
Every Monday in the first term, we will be spending some time outdoors, either at Forest School or in the EYFS outdoor area. In these sessions, we will be developing our PSHE skills, such as sharing, taking turns, being kind and working together. It's great fun too!
